Dress Code

Students at Linscott are expected to dress in a manner that is appropriate for a learning environment. The following guidelines are presented to assist students and parents in making responsible, respectful and responsive choices.

  • Skirts and shorts must reach the tips of the fingers when arms are held straight along the wearer's side.
  • The midriff section must be covered. Shirts, tops, etc. must touch the waistband of the pants or skirt.
  • No spaghetti straps. Tank tops should have straps at least two fingers in width.
  • Shoes should be reasonable height. No overly high heels or platforms. No flip flops in P.E. class.
  • Pants must cover underwear.
  • No clothing with inappropriate logos - no advertising for alcohol, drugs, etc.
  • Caps, hats, beanies, and hoods may be worn outside, but are not allowed in the classroom.
  • Due to Safety Issues, Tennis shoes with 'built in wheels' are not to be worn during school hours. This is becoming dangerous to others and are being misused in the hallway.

Independent Study

The goal of Independent Study is to provide support to students in making continuous progress by encouraging families to find educational value in non-classroom based activities during times of travel or illness and to assist students in pursuing educational goals based on special interest. The choice of Independent Study may be base on one of the following reasons:

  • students who for pre-planned family reasons must interrupt regular school attendance
  • students who for short-term, health related reasons or illness must interrupt regular school attendance
  • to assist students in pursuing pre-approved educational goals of special interests

All Independent Study must be pre-arranged with your students' teacher. Independent study forms are available in our Parent Communication section underForm Downloads.
